FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 30, 2010

Contact: Daniel Smeriglio,
(866) 990-7712 voiceofthepeopleusa@gmail.com

Phoenix, AZ - Thousands are expected from across the country to attend the largest rally in US history supporting immigration enforcement, June 5th in Phoenix, Arizona.

The "Phoenix Rising" rally will occur at Wesley Bolin Plaza Park across from the Capitol building from 3-6PM PST and be broadcast live by C-Span. Speakers will include former Congressman Tom Tancredo, Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Attendees are coming in support of enforcement of immigration laws, SB1070 and the state of Arizona.

Voice of the People USA, based out of Hazleton, PA is organizing the event with major sponsors including Team America PAC, DiggersRealm.com and Tea Party Nation.

"Those opposing SB1070 are demonizing American citizens who support the rule of law here in America," said Dan Smeriglio, President of Voice of the People USA. "All polls show that the majority of Americans want immigration laws enforced. Opponents are casting citizens who want secure borders, national security and interior enforcement as racists, but they couldn't be more wrong and we're going to show that Americans support Arizona and the rule of law".

Following the signing of SB1070 by Governor Jan Brewer in April, protests by illegal aliens and their supporters erupted in violence, including the attacking of police and supporters of the law with thrown objects. The law was also attacked by Attorney General Eric Holder and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano regarding its constitutionality. Both later admitted that they had not read the ten page law.

"The continued attacks on this law by elected and appointed officials, without reading it, shows that there is a clear disconnect between the needs of the citizenry and their leaders," said Dan Amato, of the immigration enforcement website Digger's Realm. "The citizens demand safety, security and protection - both physically and financially - from this burdensome invasion and thousands of Americans are coming to Arizona to stand with their fellow citizens. An attack on one is an attack on all. It's about time we stand up".

The rally is a true grassroots effort with all organizing funds coming from individual donations from throughout the country. Self-financed and organized buses are expected from as far away as Ohio and eastern Texas. Motorcycle clubs with hundreds of members are also coming in from around the country and will kick things off with a procession around the Capitol beginning at 1:30PM.

"This rally is in sharp contrast to the protests held by those opposing the bill. They have been bused in from out of state by unions, well-funded ethnocentric groups and openly pro-communist organizations. Some of these groups even paid their attendees," Smeriglio said.

"The mainstream media, political establishment, and special interests groups are all lining up against Arizona, it is important that Americans show that we stand with Arizona and for the rule of law," said Tom Tancredo, the current co-chair of Team American PAC.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Please forgive me for having to waste a moment of your time, but sometimes it is necessary to respond when your character, integrity or honor are under attack.

In regards to false statements being made about our rally, June 5, 2010 in Phoenix, Arizona, let me state a few things.

I have always worked on a grassroots level with honor, integrity and passion for always putting the people first and foremost with everything that I do. I do not beg for money, nor am I sponsored by any national organization. No organization funds my efforts to combat unfair and unjust taxation, political corruption on all levels, and of course holding rallies opposed to illegal immigration and amnesty.

My organization operates on a shoestring budget that is self-funded. We believe that our freedoms are guaranteed to us by the bravery and ultimate sacrifices made by our men and women of the armed forces. Our Bill of Rights does not have a price tag attached to it. We do this out of love for our country and a willingness to always put the people first above money and special interest groups. We believe that We the People have the power!

Along the way you hit road blocks and hardships, but it's how you rise above the lies and jealousy that speaks to the character of not only yourself, but of the people that believe in you. I have always held truth to be of the utmost value.

Let me address some toxic lies that are being hurled by those who claim to represent the same beliefs about national security that I do.

First, it was brought to my attention over the last week that some people were concerned about allegations made against me with regards to Facebook friends and a band that appeared on my Facebook profile. Out of the 2,200 friends on my Facebook page, two apparently had or have some association with groups that do NOT represent my beliefs, particularly regarding illegal immigration.

When this was brought to my attention I immediately removed and blocked the two individuals in question, because I stand against illegal immigration with no hatred in my heart for any person, race or religion. I support LEGAL immigration and always pay homage to the millions of hardworking immigrants that have made our nation the beautiful place that it is today. I believe that "illegal" has no race and has no social standing. I am opposed to lawbreakers that damage the good and noble name of all those whom migrate to this country legally every year.

When I learned that these two individuals were connected to my Facebook account I was outraged, disgusted and angry. I am a person from a culturally diverse family and I am extremely proud of that.

Secondly, apparently there was a band that has some form of hatred in their lyrics on my Facebook profile. I assure you that I had never heard the lyrics of this band - which I shall not name because I refuse to advertise for them. I do not have the ability to do a background check on every person or band out of thousands that I come into contact with on Facebook. To link me with this band is absurd and was done with malicious intent. I will have no part of it.

I will never subscribe to a person or group that chooses to hate others for any reason. I find it insulting to be accused of such beliefs. These allegations are unfounded and their claims are baseless.

All that I do comes from a caring and concern for the people of this nation. I have witnessed first hand what happens when national security isn't a primary concern in our nation. My family and many other families all suffered incredible losses on 9/11. I fight because I believe that we are a nation of laws and that the law should apply to everyone equally without exception.

Lies and misinformation will not derail me from my mission. I will pray for those who have spread these lies, that they some day see the error of their ways.
I am determined to put on the largest rally in support of Arizona and the rule of law that our nation has ever seen. It brings me great honor to have you continue to believe in me - and stand with me - as this is all about our survival as a nation. The integrity of this important and patriotic event shall not be infringed upon or sabotaged.

A month ago I made a promise to hold a rally in support of Arizona and I will keep my promise to all of you no matter what is thrown into our path. When the truth is guiding you, you can never be wrong. I am grateful to have so many national leaders and elected officials standing with us. There is no greater honor for me than to make this rally a tremendous success for all of you brave patriots in Arizona and every patriot across this great nation.

I will never resort to the tactic of spreading hateful allegations. I would rather funnel that passion and desire into standing up and doing the right thing, not only for my country, but also for all of you out there who believe in this noble and just cause.

Thank you very much and may God bless you all,

'Oh my god',
'I am sorry but I have to go to work now',
'Tell your aunt that I love her and i'll be home when I can',
'I love you and I always will, I am very proud of you and always will be',
'I will see you again soon',

Those were the final words that my uncle ever had the chance to say to me, you see he was off duty on September 11th 2001 but his department needed him, his city needed him, and most importantly, his country needed him. I can also make note that the three people that he saved that day also needed him. My 2 uncle's and one cousin gave their lives on that day in order to put other's lives before their own. All of my family members and the thousands and thousands of other people there that gave their lives or risked their lives on that fateful day are heroes to me and the rest of the world.

Ladies and gentlemen, I write this with a heavy heart as this marks the first time that I have ever shared some of my most personal moments from that day with anyone. I have a hole in my heart and a void in my soul that cannot and will not ever be filled. I have seen hell on earth and in the face of that hell I seen the absolute best that humanity and this country has to offer. Understand that this was not a time for petty quarrels or hatred for anyone, this was a time for America to come together and do whatever was necessary in order to help your fellow man. In the face of hatred and evil one thing emerged that the terrorists didn't count on, what emerged was a stronger, more unified America that came together despite their attempts to tear us apart.

On that day we as Americans and more importantly as human beings were taught a harsh lesson one that was supposed to stay with us everyday, all the time, 24/7, 365 days a year. That lesson was that if we fail to be a strong and united country that becomes less vigilant, tragedy and evil will in fact capitalize and it is up to us to combat it. We were given one task and that was to never forget the tragedy of that day, to never forget the loss that we suffered on that day, to always always honor and cherish the memories of all that were lost on that day. We were given the task of always honoring all of our men and women in the armed forces, our police officers, our firefighter's, and all of our EMS workers. We were given the duty to always hold the tragedy of 9/11/01 close to our hearts and honor that day all the time and not just on the anniversary of the event. We as Americans owe it to all the victims and true heroes of that day to always hold their sacrifice and their acts of heroism close to our hearts always and without exception.

September 11th 2001 is more than a Hollywood movie, it is more than a conspiracy theory it is a day where some of us experienced a loss so great and so close to our hearts that it is nearly impossible for us to even talk about it. On that day I and thousands of others suffered more than ever thought imaginable. All of us as Americans are responsible for never letting the pain and the memory of that day fade away from our hearts and minds.

We owe it to ourselves to always remember the fight to combat this evil that continues this very day, despite what your political affiliations and despite internet rumors we must always remember that our men and women in the military put their lives on the line every single day and they command our respect and admiration. Just remember where you were and what you said on that day in September, remember the emptiness and the hurt that filled your heart and soul on that day and use that to remember why we fight, use that feeling to remember why our soldiers spend every day in harms way, our soldiers don't have the option to disagree and sit this fight out, they don't have the luxury playing partisan politics, they have a job to do and it is the most important job imaginable, do you know what it is? It is the mission of keeping all of America safe at home. They fight to protect our freedom of speech, our freedom of religion etc. They fight so that we as Americans may never again see a day like September 11th 2001. We owe them our respect and our undying gratitude and admiration.

We also owe our president a great deal of respect as well. Whether you like or dislike president Bush is absolutely irrelevant. One thing that must always be remembered is that president Bush put our safety and security first and foremost and since that tragic day we as a country have not suffered another event like 9/11 and for that I and everyone else should include him on our list of thanks.

Ladies and gentlemen that I am opening my heart to please understand that some of us can never forget the lessons that we learned on that day, some of us have used that tragedy as a guiding light to hopefully do some good in this world in which we live. All that I am asking is that you look at 9/11 with open mind and an open heart. dispel any senseless internet rumors and slanderous movies, if you want to remember what happened on that day just simply look at all the news-stations tomorrow and when they play the clips of the tragedy over and over again understand that, that is what truly happened on 9/11, there was no inside jobs, their was no preconceived plan, what happened was evil at it's most truest and purest form and we lost thousands and thousands of great people in just a few hours. Remember that feeling you had in your heart when those brave firemen raised the flag at ground zero, remember the feeling you had in the pit of your stomach when you watched millions of people from all around the world come together and come to our aide, remember the thousands of us who became rescue workers at ground zero by volunteering ourselves to do whatever we possibly can in order to help strangers. friends, co-workers, fellow Americans. Remember the feeling of patriotism that filled your heart's on that day and the weeks and months that followed that day. We must never lose that feeling, we owe it to ourselves to once again come together as a nation and a people and to put to rest the petty misconceptions and foolish conspiracy theories that have surfaced about 9/11. We are Americans, we are better than that.

In closing, I never had the chance to say goodbye to my uncle's or my cousin on that day. Like so many other's we buried empty caskets in the ground. I cannot even begin to talk about the sights and sounds that I personally experienced on that day, my heart drowned in a sea of tears. I and many others still feel that hurt, that pain every single day. All that was ever recovered of my family that perished on that day was a badge, a shield of duty and justice. To protect and serve, what a powerful and meaningful statement. Their unyielding sacrifice is what I can never forget. When everyone else is running out, few are running in, their loyalty was to the people who they took an oath to protect. Their job was to put everyone else's well being in front of their own. That sacrifice and the everyday sacrifices warrant us to never forget all that 9/11 was.

To my family in heaven, know that I am doing my very best to honor you and to preserve your memories every single day of my life. Though I never had the chance to say good bye I know that you are with me all the time, I only hope to bring some good to this world and to my part in helping anyone and everyone that may need my help. All of you are my inspiration and my reason for doing what I do. I love you all and I thank you from the bottom of my broken heart, I long for the day that I will be able to see your faces again and to thank you (My heroes) for all that you did. I spent thirteen weeks looking for you uncle ray, Alan and Ryan even though you were all standing right next to me. It is my sincerest hope that no one will ever tarnish yours and everyone else's memory. A street sign doesn't do any of you justice, all of you are my strength and reason for everything. One day I will share your stories with the world in the meantime I will always keep you all close to my heart. Uncle Ray, I can only hope that I am still making you proud. Goodbye my heroes.

God Bless

A routine traffic stop in Beaver Meadows lead to the discovery of nine illegal immigrants last month, borough police said.
At 9 p.m. on July 25, police Chief Mike Morresi noticed a vehicle on Broad Street traveling without its lights on. When he stopped the truck and asked for identification, none of the nine occupants — three in the cab and six in the bed — could produce documentation.

WILKES-BARRE – Honking horns of passing motorists and pleas shouted over a bullhorn supplemented the message reassessment protesters were trying to send outside the Luzerne County Courthouse Monday afternoon

The Hazleton-based grass-roots group Voice of the People USA organized a rally to “apply pressure to overturn the reassessments,” according to the organization’s Web site.

We encourage everyone who believes this was unjust to stand with us on Saturday, August 16th, at 1;00pm at the Public Square in Wilkes Barre. We want these reassessments overturned, as they are crippling the middle class.

Also, on Monday, August 18th at 1:00pm, Harvey's Lake residents are organizing a march at the Luzurne County Court House. We will be attending, and once again, strongly urge everyone who supports our efforts to stand with us.

All employers in the United States must have their workers complete a short form to prove they are eligible for employment.

Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta wants businesses to follow the law — and asked them to promote the fact that their employees are documented workers.

Barletta, with the help of representatives from an employment verification service, issued the “Lou Barletta I-9 Challenge” on Tuesday. I-9 refers to the employment eligibility document that must be filled out by all full- and part-time workers.Barletta, whose bid to unseat a 12-term congressman is based largely on his reputation as an anti-illegal immigration crusader, is trying to keep his signature issue alive even as voters turn their attention to the troubled economy and rising gas prices.

Now, By the end of the weekend VOPUSA PAC will be announcing our schedule for fundraisers we are holding in support of Mayor Lou Barletta and State Rep. Chris Hackett. We are holding five for each candidate all over the districts.

We will also be releasing details about our Wilkes Barre rally happening on August 16th at Public Square. All I will say now is that we have MANY issues to cover, illegal immigration will be discussed, but we have much, much more to attack. It will be worth the wait, I assure you.

Two area congressmen and their challengers in November’s election agree that language requirements in applying for a driver’s license are too lax.

“That’s outrageous,” U.S. Rep. Tim Holden, D-17, said Thursday when discussing policies that allow the use of an interpreter during both the written and skills portions of a driver’s license test.

Holden and his Republican opponent in the November election, Toni Gilhooley, both said Thursday that English should be recognized as the “official” language of the United States, which would, among other things, require everyone to speak and read English when applying for a license.
